The XII edition of the International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage is held in two stages:
first stage: selection
First Stage – In Marseille, France, the selection of the works in competition is held at the head quarters of the CMCA, Mediterranean Centre for Audiovisual Communication.
The International Selection Committee is composed of documentary, cinema, and television professionals of the North and South Mediterranean, together with delegates of CMCA, INA (Institut National de l’Audiovisuel) and RAI. The Selection Committee chooses a minimum of 5 films for each prize category. The selected films compete in the final phase of the Prize in Italy.

second stage: assigns award
In Cagliari, Italy, the final stage, from the 10th- 16th of December 2007 takes place, which is full of events and initiatives
PROGRAM 2007
° The International Jury assigns the prizes;
° Professional seminaries and debates regarding the finalists or winners of the former Editions;
° Workshops on themes regarding current Mediterranean Audiovisual topics;
° Meetings with journalists, film directors, authors and producers;
° Training activities focused on documentary and reportage, specially to professionals coming from the Southern shores of the Mediterranean;
° Screenings on demand of Mediterranean documentaries and reportage;
° Reviews and screenings open to the public of the city that hosts the final stage;
° Shared working projects with the Film Commission, the universities, institutions and cultural references of the territory;
° Prize Award Ceremony of the winning works.

Film winners of the 2007 International Competition
categories in competition and the internationa prizes
"Mediterranean Challenges”- Grand Prize CMCA (Worth 6000 Euro). Awards the film (documentary or reportage) that best illustrates the challenges of the Mediterranean area giving forth new and useful reading interpretation of the current situation. In this category the works that compete are able to foster depth and understanding to the flow of events, and are attentive to the protagonistsi. FILM FILES
“Memories of the Mediterranean” (Worth 5000 Euro). Awards the documentary, that with or without archives, is able to bring past historical events into the present day context. The works in this category can tell of individual or collective stories of men and women, symbolic places, and memories. FILM FILES
“Art, Heritage, and Culture of the Mediterranean” (Worth 5000 Euro). Awards the documentary that best brings out the artistic expressions (music, fine arts, visual and performing arts), heritage (sites, monuments, works of art, architecture, and archaeological evidences) and other traits of Mediterranean culture (traditions and folklore). “First Creation” (Worth 5000 Euro). The prize recognizes the talent of a film director who has not accomplished more than three documentaries. The works produced in the framework of a university formation or of professional training are invited to participate. FILM FILES
The Golden Lighthouse”. Awards the best television magazine that deals with current themes (society, geopolitics, environment, economy, and culture) of the Mediterranean area. This category takes into consideration the quality of the journalistic inquiries, its content, its accomplishment and introduction. The television magazine can compete with or without taking part of a studio. FILM FILES
The five prizes will be assigned to both film directors and authors of the awarded programs.
THE 4 SPECIAL PRIZES
In the 2007 edition four special prizes may eventually be assigned to the finalists works all together, of which two related to broadcasting. This gives the International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage an always more clear and precise role in highlighting and eventual broadcasting of the documentary d’auteur:
Special prize of the International Jury (Worth 5000 Euro) for the film of those selected all together in the categories “Challenges of the Mediterranean”, “Memories of the Mediterranean”, “Art, Heritage, and Culture of the Mediterranean”, and “First Creation”. This prize will reward a film that the Jury believes to be distinctive, and that has not received one of the five official prizes.
Special broadcasting prize “RAI Tre for the Mediterranean”, all categories together. The winning film will be broadcasted on RAI 3
Special broadcasting Prize “ENTV for the Mediterranean”, all categories together. The winning film will be broadcasted on the algerian ENTV.
The above last two prizes will be assigned under unquestionable decision by the delegates of the respective television channels. The broadcasting of the prized works will be decided and specifically agreed between the channel and the authors of the winning film.
