HISTORY AND PATNERS

The International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage was founded in France, in 1994, at Monte Carlo where the 1995 edition was held. From 1996 the event is organized by the CMCA in agreement with the RAI and in collaboration with local entities and Italian  regions. The selection of the works is held at the headquarters in Marseille by the CMCA, and the final stage of the event is carried out by the RAI and the prizes are awarded in Italy:

From 2001, the Artistic Director of the Prize is the Secretary general of the CMCA, Paolo Morawski (RAI).

The International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage is an international competition held annually thanks to  the agreement between the CMCA – Mediterranean Centre of Audiovisual Communication, and the RAI.

The Prize is  appointed to audiovisual productions, that in the specific field of the documentary, reportage and film investigations, deal in a creative and original way, themes and questions that characterize the cultural area of the Mediterranean in a wide range, from the Atlantic coasts to the shores of the Black Sea.

The Prize is open to all television broadcasters (private or public), production companies (public, private, associative), to authors, film directors, journalists and documentary directors, who, through their work and programs promote the knowledge of cultures and traditions of the Mediterranean, regarding its past and current situation. Both civil confrontation and artistic research are privileged themes.

The Prize has reached its XII edition. It rewards the quality of the works, both in its contents and artistic construction. It aims to increase the visibility of the works held in esteem, that deal, and emphasize with social themes, from history, culture, heritage, and art, to the present topics concerning the countries facing the Mediterranean; to facilitate its knowledge and awareness; and to promote the broadcasting of the best audiovisual productions.

The goal of the Prize is to stimulate  reciprocal knowledge and professional exchanges. With an objective of contributing to an authentic, constructive dialogue, and creating co-operation among the countries of the area. Every year the calendar of the events provides training activities on documentary and reportage, and international meetings are held on quality audiovisual creation, and production in the Mediterranean.

Every year the Prize is an occasion and meeting reference for audiovisual professionals to exchange experiences, knowledge, and to create useful international bonds.

what is the CMCA

The CMCA (visita sito ufficiale) is a non governing body founded in 1986 that unites the main broadcasting organizations of  televisions, the producers audiovisual operators of the Mediterranean area in wide range. The members taking part in the CMCA:

And the professional associations: APIMED, EDN, URTI. The CMCA is financed by shares donated by its members  and supported by the Regional Council “Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur”, the General Council of “Bouches-du-Rhône” and the city of Marseille

The Selection Committee chooses a minimum of 5 films for each prize category. The selected films compete in the final phase of the Prize in Italy.
